Job Description For: School Psychologist (Therapeutic Programs)
Directly Reports To: Program Coordinator and Program Director
QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of an Educational Specialist Degree in school psychology approved by the National Association of School Psychologists including an advanced practicum of 1200 hours. Massachusetts DESE licensure as a School Psychologist as set forth in 603 CMR 7.04.
The School Psychologist must have vast experience and expertise with a range of assessments and evaluations. Consultation and collaboration skills to support co-workers in implementing recommendations. Experience working with special education processes. Experience supporting students with a wide range of disabilities, primarily social, emotional and learning disabilities. . Experience with implementation of PBIS within a school setting.
The position requires the following skills:
- Ability to conduct Assessments/Evaluations including but not limited to Psycho-Educational Assessments,, and Functional Behavioral Assessments.
- Identify and assess the learning, development, and adjustment characteristics and needs of individuals and groups.
- Identify and assess the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment.
- Directly implement interventions with students with fidelity and consistency.
- Working knowledge, design and implement intervention using principles of ABA, DBT and UDL.
The position includes the following responsibilities:
Service Delivery:
- Write evaluations and use assessment data to develop appropriate recommendations for interventions and programming.
- Collaborate with team members to develop individualized, group and school-wide Behavior Support systems and plans.
- Collaborate with internal and external providers to support a service continuum
- Compile assessment data from multiple sources and synthesize findings to support Assessment Teams and IEP Teams in developing appropriate services for students in the least restrictive environment.
- Present assessments, evaluations and recommendations at 45-Day Assessment Meetings, Annual IEP meetings, and progress meetings.
- Observe and collect data on students in classes, groups, and develop and implement function based and data driven interventions.
- Support team in developing and implementing crisis interventions and reviewing interventions post-incident.
- Provide data-based interventions with fidelity to students to support the teaching process and to maximize learning and adjustment.
- Provide consultation to parents/guardians, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance the learning and adjustment of students.
- Support school wide trainings on a variety of topics related to school psychology and behavior support interventions.
Professional Growth and Ethics:
- Actively participate in staff meetings, trainings, in-service and school wide events.
- Model professional and ethical standards when communicating and interacting with students, parents/guardians/guardians/guardians, families colleagues and administrators.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to support the needs of students with social/emotional disabilities.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to support a school milieu that embraces a year round open enrollment.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of current research and literature as it applies to the field of school psychology.
- Adhere to established federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Refine and develop professional skills through training, professional literature, and continuing education.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information according to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Exchange professional information with peers through formal and informal interactions.
- Comply with collaborative wide policies and procedures.
EVALUATION: Evaluation to be performed annually in accordance with Assabet Valley Collaborative’s personnel handbook and pertinent regulations and statutes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical ability to execute job responsibilities that may include (depending upon assignment):
- Drive a 7D vehicle.
- Meet the physical requirements necessary to physically intervene in a crisis or emergency as trained and per AVC Physical Restraint protocol, policy and applicable regulations.
- Use hands and fingers to manipulate objects, tools, or controls.
- Ability to see, hear and speak.
- Ability to report to work on time and fulfill contract days and hours.
